About Me

Hi, I’m Melinda, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I am passionate about getting to walk alongside others to overcome various obstacles in their life and work towards healing, growth, and change. I strive to help people feel known, heard, seen, and safe.

I am experienced in working alongside families, children, teens, couples, and adults. I treat an array of things that might be taking a hold of you including anxiety, depression, stress, relational conflicts, anger management/emotion regulation, low self-esteem, and unhealthy coping strategies.

My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate space for you to process what you need to and get to where you want to be. I help highlight some of the vicious cycles and patterns keeping you stuck. My hope is to help you achieve personal insight and self-awareness.

I know what it’s like to feel down, helpless, and empty inside. To feel overwhelmingly stressed by all of the things life loves to throw at us and not know where to begin or how to overcome it. And to feel frustrated and hurt by those who we so want to feel connected and close to. Perhaps that’s where you are right now.

What Makes Me Credible

I use systems theory and apply an integrated and client-centered approach, utilizing various modalities that meet my client where they are at. With individuals where anxiety or depression might have a tight grip on you, I implement elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based treatment. I help my clients understand the root and components of the anxiety and depression, teach techniques including relaxation to cope effectively, and then give them the skills to successfully challenge the thinking patterns that are not so adaptive.

With couples and families, my goal is to help them develop a stronger emotional bond and attachment with one another in which they can rediscover that sense of closeness and safety, express their deeper underlying emotions honestly, share their longings and needs, learn to communicate in more open and healthy ways, and overall get unstuck in the dance they are in.

Over time and with a therapeutic relationship we can develop together, I’d like to help you through the tough season of life that you might be in. Whether it be to work on overcoming your stress, anxiety, depression, learning more effective ways to cope, or the skills to better understand and communicate with someone important in your life, I want to support you through that.

If these are some of the challenges you might be experiencing, please don’t hesitate to contact me to schedule an appointment and determine if I would be a good fit for you.
