Kathryn “Katie” Skouse

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Hi, I’m Katie, and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in supporting couples and individuals to find healing.

Are you craving closeness with your partner but feeling so far away? Are you caught in another fight and can’t find your way out? I help partners find a way back to each other by getting out of stuck patterns and connecting in a new and meaningful way.

It’s natural for every couple to face struggles as they grow and change. With my guidance we can find better ways to ask for what you truly need. I have seen couples come out the other side of struggle more bonded than before, despite betrayals, infidelity, and years of resentment built up within the relationship.

For individuals who are struggling, I can be there beside you as you unpack what’s troubling you and guide you to face the truths that will set you free. Growth breeds uncertainty which can feel overwhelming, but with support it can be the best work you do for yourself and for your relationships.

I work with an attachment lens that allows us to look back at your life to find the reasons behind your suffering. Looking back is not a blame and shame game; it’s a curious-driven reflection to see what you learned as a child and how that has sculpted your view of yourself and the world around you. We discover patterns and behaviors you’ve learned throughout your lives and how change is possible.

Let’s do this together. Meet me for a free 15 minute consultation and we can create an individualized plan to find the ways to show up for yourself and explore how you can make your mental health and happiness a priority everyday. I like to say that “wherever you go, there you are” so let’s make that a great place to be.

What Makes Me Credible:

I most often use EFT (emotionally focused therapy), an evidence-based approach with a very high success rate in not only preserving relationships, but helping couples and individuals thrive in relationships. I am experienced in treating individuals and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, complex PTSD, complicated grief and loss, identity-searching, divorce counseling, and co-parenting counseling.

As a part of the LGBTQ+ community I have experience working with LGBTQ+ couples and individuals. I also work with ENM (ethically non-monogamous) partnerships, or polyamorous partnerships to create a safe space to explore what relationships can mean to every individual.
